If you have stumbled upon this post, there is a good chance that you are engaged! If so, CONGRATS!!! That is so fun!! And honestly there is no better way to celebrate than to have an adventure based completely around you and your love! CUE AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION!!!
So where should this adventure take place??
That’s where I come in!
My number one tip to give engaged couples is to think about their relationship and plan a session that is unique to them! So before I start my list of locations, here is a list of questions to ask yourselves to get your minds ticking…
Hopefully those questions help to get you in the mind set of what makes your relationship unique! Now let’s try and bring that into choosing a location!
Are you ready? Here are my top 8 location ideas for your Sydney Engagement Session!
.
Hands down, my favourite place in all of Sydney! The sunsets are stunning and the views are even better. There are so many epic locations within this area. Here are a few of my favourites…
Of course I have some sneaky secret ones up my sleeve too 😉
2. North Curl Curl
.
.
North Curl Curl is one of my favourite beach locations in Sydney because it has so much variety! From lush green shrubbery, to rock lookouts, to a stunning long stretch of beach! I love to start out up on top of the cliff at the north end of the beach. Up there you will find fun little pathways that wind their way to a huge rock lookout over the ocean. As the sun begins to drop, head down to the beach as those final minutes of daylight create beautiful, soft hues on the shore.
.
3. Royal National Park
.
South Sydney’s Royal National Park is pretty epic! The best coastal views you can find with awesome rock formations too! And bonus if you time your visit right, you can spot some whales! My two favourite spots are The Balconies and also Wattamolla Beach Walking Track! Bring some sneakers as you will need to walk 1km or so to get to the good stuff!
.
.
4. Western Sydney Parklands
.
Think big open fields and long grass for days! Ideal for couples who love a picnic and want to keep things simple and effortless! In particular, I love ‘The Diary’ entry to the Parklands. You will find little pockets of trees, cute grass trails and a small pond! On a clear day, the sunsets are pretty epic too!
.
.
5. The Rocks
.
If you like urban vibes but still want to keep a natural feel, The Rocks/Dawes Point is for you! There is just so much variety here and there are so many spots to stop at, you will mostly be doing a bit of walking! You will find little alley ways on the ‘Nurses Walk’, cobbled streets, funky roller doors and cool buildings, the harbour, industrial wharfs and you can even end your time over at Barangaroo Reserve to get those nature vibes as well!
.
6. Your Home!!
.
I LOOOVVEEE in home sessions!! Why? Because it makes it so unique and personal! I just love the idea that in 30 years from now you can look back at these photos and remember what daily life was like back in those early days of your relationship. You can remember your first home as a married couple, that small kitchen that sometimes drove you insane or your first fur baby! Don’t underestimate your home, we can totally make some magic there!
.
.
7. Gardens!
.
If you love those lush green or floral vibes then definitely head to one of Sydney’s beautiful botanic garden, council gardens or private gardens/nurseries! Here are a handful of my favs…
Depending on what time of year you guy, you can either opt for fresh, bright, spring vibes or if you are like me, those warm autumn, golden leave vibes is where it is at!
.
8. Balmoral Beach
.
I love this beach but I do recommend heading here either outside of summer or at sunrise as it is very popular, for good reason! I really like the north end as it has a really cool rock area you can climb around on to as well as some great greenery too!
.
.
BONUS LOCATIONS OUTSIDE OF SYDNEY!
.
This spot is like holy grail for photographers! It is quirky, unique and has so much to offer! From really cool rock formations (it used to be a quarry), to long grass and field vibes to epic cliff edge ocean views and finally to a beautiful stretch of beach! It pretty much combines all of the above locations into one!
.
.
2. Putty Beach, Central Coast
.
This is my favourite beach to photograph at! It isn’t as crowded as Sydney beaches, the angle it sits at means the sunset is in an ideal position and it has way more to offer than just a beach! As you can tell if you have read this far, I love a cliff edge and of course, this location is no different! But what makes this one unique is that the rock surface is more red in colour and creates some beautiful earthy tones.
